Round 1 - Fail

I suck at collecting pee big time.
Could hardly even do anything except stalk Poppy.
Each time he slinks to the bathroom, i would tip toe quickly after him just to see him sitting in front of the kitty litter, looking at me with big puzzled gollywog eyes.

The one that says "What's mummy's problem? Why is she skulking after me?"
That happened a few times.

And when Poppy FINALLY went to pee, i rush in but couldn't push the plastic container fast enough underneath him and got pee on my fingers. And cat litter sand in the container with a drop of pee.

Poppy had the most incredulous face.

He proceeded to follow me around then, with torrents of unhappy squawks while i wash the container and my hands.

Scolding mummy.

Sigh.
Now he's just parked himself on the work bench opposite me while i work.

Waiting for round 2.

I need to think out of the box here.

Oh dear! How about trying with a narrowish, flat dish? This might be easier to get between his legs and under his tail. Something like those little dishes snacks are served on perhaps, or maybe even a lid?

If you have no luck getting the Katkor online, email us (via our profile) and we will see if we can send you some.

Best of luck with Round 2!

It is difficult trying to catch them peeing. I'm not sure of the plastic container you are using, but try to use one that has big enough opening.

Hi Whicky,
Bottomline is, Poppy does not allow me to collect pee. Very naughty. I have checked out and most of the online sites that sell KatKor does not ship to Malaysia. I do not also want to trouble you. My vet says that there might be something similar in a pet store nearby so am going to check it out tomorrow.
Thanks for your help!

Hi Island Cat's mum,

Nothing seems to work. Let's see how...thanks for dropping by, appreciate your comments!

It's Gypsy & Tasha's Mum here. Since we became a two cat household, I've never had any success capturing Gypsy's urine at home. I've always had to take him to the v-e-t, so they could isolate him in a cage there to get a sample. Can you isolate him at home with a litter box for himself without sand? This is what I'm thinking of doing with Gypsy in the future, but I haven't actually tried it yet.

Hope you find a way around this,

Kaz (Gypsy & Tasha's Mum)

Hi there Kaz! Nice to hear from you again. I can't really isolate Poppy unless i put him in a cage. That would be the best thing. But at this point, i will still try to opt for getting the pee without caging him...my cats are used to sand, so having no sand means they won't go. Habit. So i am keen to see this pet store my vet told me that has something like KatKor...will update soon.
Take care!

Have you tried those plastic packing peanuts, or fine pea gravel, or something similar in the litter box? If you could find something that Poppy would accept that would not absorb the urine, you wouldn't have to stalk and harass Poppy. (unless you want to, of course :-) )

We usually supply a fresh urine sample in the bottom of the carrier on the way to the V*T, so our Food Source usually doesn't have this problem.

Hey Lee,
thanks for the idea. It's worth a try!
